H. Mathis

Beginning his work under Huff Mathis in the mid 90's, Mathis is definitely the old man of the group. He later shortened his name to H. Mathis (3 Month's later Puff Daddy switched to P Diddy). Coincidence? We think not.

While having everyones best interest at heart, Mathis often works in a seemingly subversive tone, and finds enjoyment while shaking things up a bit in the process. While some become insulted or annoyed by his ploys, he stays true to his method and character. We see him more as a constant stand up act.

In true fashion, his site ANTI©SUCCESS will soon offer self-help books such as 100 Ways To Be Anti Successful due out early 2010 by MPP Publishing.

Sighn

Sighn is by far the most sweat producing & laborious member of Multi Polar Projects. Keeping a low profile, and his nose to the grindstone, you will never find his hands free of sawdust.

Nostalgia is possibly the one word adjective to best describe Sighn's work. This concept pours through the phrases he writes, both in the gallery and on the street. He shares his deep emotions in an ambiguous fashion, for others to use as a jumping block, to reminisce on their own memories.

His life's focus is on a potentially impossible feat, a hand cut 'limited' edition of 1 million. A John Henry vs. The Machine type quest. The end result of this 50 year venture will result in a piece entitled: one million times it's ok. While this obviously consumes most of his time, he is still able to research and study his passion of handmade typography. The only downside to all of this? Most articles normally close out with: it'll take a lifetime, but that's okay.

His new site coming Summer 2009. Visit past work here:

Ervin Orion

The draftsman known as Ervin Orion draws portraits of contemporary artists and gallerists in his signature style. His drawings are recognizable by the gaudy plastic frames, the soft velvet mattes, and the name ERVIN incorporated into every portrait.

Scouring local dollar stores and thrifts stores (and often returning with extra baggage from visiting cities), he has come up with quite an amazing collection of ornate plastic frames. Cutting custom velvet mattes to line these frames adds to the high level of ironic kitsch. Orion's interest lies in the artist as celebrity, (not the crass American Idol celebrity style), but more of an ornate victorian dignitary. Old school esteem at its finest...

Mateo

We aren't entirely clear why we represent this lad, expect for the pure amusement of the youth. He refuses to sell any products on our website, or even show in any gallery shows we put on. He says his work is for the street, for anyone, for free. That's about all we can get out of him, as we can't really pin him down for a proper interview. We adore his passion, and are betting on the fact that as life gets 'real' for him (ie responsibilities), we'll be the ones laughing all the way to the bank. Ahh, ain't idealism sweet?

His fitting website address seems to vaguely answer all our quandaries of his work...
